The nearly $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot finally produced winners in Saturday night’s drawing, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association — powerball.com.
Two winning tickets—one in Texas and one in Missouri—will share the $1.787 billion grand prize, the association confirmed late Saturday (NBC News).
The winning numbers were 11, 23, 44, 61, 62, with a Powerball of 17 (see the official results on Powerball’s site).
Each winner now faces a choice: take an annuitized prize worth $893.5 million, paid out over 30 installments across 29 years, or opt for a one-time lump sum of $410.3 million (CNN).
In Texas, the winning ticket was purchased at a convenience store and gas station in Fredericksburg, a Hill Country town about 35 miles northeast of Kerrville. That location was confirmed by the Texas Lottery in its official statement.
Fredericksburg lies near an area that was devastated by flooding in July, which claimed more than 100 lives statewide—according to coverage by ABC News (link).
