How to Check Your Tire Pressure

A five-minute job that most drivers get wrong in the same two ways: reading the number off the tire instead of the car, and measuring after a drive. Tire pressure is the cheapest safety equipment on your car and the easiest to neglect. NHTSA puts it first in its list of tire maintenance tasks, and its own figures suggest only about one driver in five keeps their tires properly inflated. The method below takes five minutes with a gauge that costs less than a tank of fuel.
